Chess Knight with Colorado Avalanche was a popular chess lecture given by Todd before the Colorado Avalanche game. All the kids would get a square of the chess board as they entered the event. After the chess talk, Todd would do the Knight’s Tour Blindfolded, stopping periodically and give out prizes from the gift store to the kid who had a particular square. The final square was the grand prize and was signed memorabilia by one of the Avalanche’s players.
In 2008, Todd’s special guest was five-time All-Pro Denver Bronco Center, Tom Nalen. Tom marked the squares for the Knight’s Tour.
